Sunday School at FPC begins on Sunday September 15th, 2024 and continues with a few breaks until April 27th, 2024.

PreK-8th Grade Sunday School

Our children are grouped in the following classes:

  • Prekindergarten
  • Kindergarten-1st Grades
  • 2nd-3rd Grades
  • 4th-5th Grades
  • 6th-7th Grades “Pre-Confirmation”
  • 8th Grade Confirmation

Sunday School runs from 10:10-10:55am and gather in different locations based upon their ages.

  • PreK-3rd: Sunday School Music Room
  • 4th-5th, 6th-7th, & 8th Grade Confirmation: In their respective classrooms.

This year, PK=5th Grade are utilizing the “Whirl” curriculum featuring a whole cast of colorful characters that our children to learn the Bible and the basics of the Christian faith. While our Pre-confirmation students in 6th and 7th will be utilizing the “Connect” curriculum that helps preteens connect with God’s big story through videos, Bible exploration, and projects.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an important moment in the life of a student when they have an opportunity to explore their faith in a deeper way and to examine whether they want to continue growing in that faith into the future. Confirmation at FPC Spirit Lake traditionally happens in 8th grade and meets every Sunday during the Sunday School hour from September through April.

Every Confirmation class includes the following elements.

  1. Weekly lessons with one of the Pastors.
    1. Pastor Clint and Michael will lead the Confirmation class every Sunday during Sunday School from 10:10-10:55am.
  2. Regular participation in worship (in-person or online).
    1. Regular attendance helps students to understand their place within the worshipping community as they explore and deepen their faith.
  3. Four sermon reflections.
    1. They give students an opportunity to listen for the key themes in sermons, encouraging them to listen carefully for how it can apply to their life.
    2. Sermons reflections can be accessed and submitted via our website. Alternatively, students can print and scan their reflections here.
  4. Participation in the mentor program beginning in January 2022.
