From First Presbyterian Church VBS 2015 “Power Up”
This year's 2015 VBS “Power Up” celebrates the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives and will be held from August 3rd-7th for students 4 years old through rising sixth graders.

  • The "Snack List" is located by the table in the narthex and ready for you to sign up.

Thank you for the encouragement, support, cards, gifts, and love that were shared with us as we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. You all made a special event even more special and we are thankful to have so many wonderful people to share this milestone with us.

High School Star Wars Marathon Star What? if you want to catch up on your Star Wars history (and you should with the new movie coming soon) you're invited to come to Pastor Michael's house for a Star Wars marathon this Thursday July 30th. We will watch episodes four through six back to back starting at 4pm and ending about 11pm. All rising high school students and friends are invited and there is no registration cost. Think you have what it takes to be a jedi? If so, "may the force be with you." The Next POET Dinner Event
The Spencer Dream Center will be holding a pasta night for us on Friday, July 31st for a cost of $10. At 6:45pm they are going to share with us about the ministries that are happening there. Dinner will be served between 7 and 7:15pm. For people that are unaware of the Dream Center, it is in the old Hotel building in Spencer.

Greeter/Usher (s) Needed

The Reforming (2nd) Service is in need of Greeters/Ushers from August and beyond. Please contact Bob Peterson or the office if you can assist.

The Garden at the Church
Along with the rain and the beautiful sunshine comes weeds!!! A "weekly weeding" has begun, each Wednesday at 7pm. Grab your hoe and come join the fun.

August 12, 2015 – Okoboji View

12:00pm – 1:00pm Registration
1:00pm Shotgun Start
5:00pm – Dinner and Raffle

Format – 4 person best shot
Sponsorships and Raffle donations appreciated. All proceeds go to scholarships and
Leadership development in our region. Golf & dinner are $50/person, dinner only is $20.

Rising High School Students
We need your help to redecorate our youth room! Do you like to paint, decorate, or organize? Come and help us on August 20th and 21st when we give our youth room a “fresh coat of paint.” Make sure that Pastor Michael has your contact information (email or texting number) and you will be the first to know.

Dick & Shirley Morris Need Prayers & Support
Shirley is on Hospice Care and is completely bedridden. She usually is in bed by 7pm. Along with our prayers they could use our support by visiting with Dick on Wednesdays or Fridays between 7-8:30pm. If you can help out, please call the Morris household at 336-2922.

FPC is Collecting Freezer Meals
We have a couple of families in need of meals, so we are beginning to collect freezer meals here at the church and will distribute them to the families in need. At this time we could use meals for a family of two. Thank you in advance!

  • Judy Stueven recovering from staph infection.
  • Dolly Kooima as she recovers from a fall.
  • Gene Ringsdorf recovering from surgery.
  • Jim Arens who has been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease.
  • Mitchell Elmquist struggling with lymphoma.
  • Michele Swanson battling with cancer.
  • Marcia Andersen, who is having health concerns.
  • Paul Donnenwerth battling with liver cancer.
  • Brian Jones & Jay Anderson as they await transplants and further recovery.
