Looking for Singers
The Reforming service is looking for vocalists to join the praise team! If you like to sing and have thought of trying it out, now is the perfect opportunity to join. You can sign up to sing as often as your schedule may allow, and you also get to participate in choosing the music that we sing in church on Sunday. Contact Rachelle Gewecke at (712)314-2292 or rachelle.gewecke@gmail.com to hear more about this fun and important way to get involved in our church family and use the talents God has given you!

Our Congregational Meeting will be held immediately following our Reformed Worship Service on Sunday, November 20th. All members are encouraged to attend.
Hello Church family!
We are going with a team from Spirit Lake to Caiman, Haiti January 5-14, 2017. The ministry we are going to work with is called UCI (United Christian International). We are having a fundraiser Taco Meal, including a taste of Haiti with Haitian Beans and Rice, on Sunday Nov 13th. This meal will be held at Crosswinds Church from 11am-1pm. We will also be taking orders for holiday pies at that time. Please consider coming to help support our trip. Thanks!
– Kailee and Emma Jenness
Presbyterians Out Eating Together will be attending the Madrigal Dinner presented by the Music Department of Iowa Lakes Community College. Twenty tickets (cost is $20 per ticket) are on hold for both dates. Ten tickets have already been sold for Saturday night. To make your reservation please make out a check payable to ILCC for the number of tickets and leave it at the church office or with Lynn Peterson. Also needed is the first and last name of each ticket holder so that his Lorde and Lady might be announced at the party. Unreserved tickets will need to be returned to the college on November 9th so make sure you have ordered your tickets by then. If more folks want to get tickets on Saturday, we will try to get more tickets, but this needs to be done quickly as tickets will go on sale to the general public soon. Any questions please call Lynn Peterson, 712-332-6374.
Also, POET is seeking a new name. If you have a suggestion please email to Tony Jennings, Lynn Peterson, Chris Sills, Phil Den Herder, or the church office attention POETs.
Operation Christmas Child
Our church is participating in Operation Christmas Child! This is a fantastic ministry that provides children who have or will receive very little this Christmas an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ our Savior. You can help this year by gathering items to make your own shoe box gift. Ideas for your shoe box include: school supplies, small toys, hygiene items, hard candy, socks, etc… and even a personal note. Along with each shoe box they’re asking you to include a $7 donation for shipping and handling payable to Samaritan’s Purse. You’re also welcome to make a monetary donation payable to First Presbyterian Church with a note in the memo section for Operation Christmas Child. All monetary donations and shoe boxes are due back by Sunday, November 13th. Any questions please contact Christy Thompson, Jon or Amy Stover, Coral Cochran-Bray or the Church Office!! Make a child happy this Christmas!

We will be watching the just released movie, Ice Age: Collision Course so come ready to laugh and enjoy our complimentary movie snacks! Please let us know in the office if your student plans to attend so that we can make sure to have enough snacks for everyone.

Pie Auction & Youth Sunday
Need a pie for Thanksgiving? The annual Pie Auction and Youth Sunday will be held on November 20th. Join us for the joint worship service at 8:50am which will be led by the youth and then don’t miss the fellowship, brunch, and pie auction to follow! We are excited to share some of the early details about this year’s youth mission trip while also raising funds to make these life changing experiences possible for our students. See you there!
Food For The Soul
The ingredients of Christmas
This Advent, we will be exploring the major components of the Christian life and the Christmas message… Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Christ. Essentially we will be using the idea of holiday recipes and Christmas cooking to consider these fundamental “ingredients” of the Christian life. These themes will guide us through advent as we prepare and approach Christmas together, and we need your help!
During each week of Advent, we will have a box in the narthex labeled with that week’s theme word. We are asking people to put something in the box that symbolizes or expresses the meaning of that word to you. It can be something written, a simple word, a picture, or some item that you would be willing to share with us for the Advent season. Mark submissions with your name so they can be returned after Christmas. Following services on each Sunday, all of the objects will be on display on tables that represent that week’s word. We will be building our collection throughout the advent season. We think this might be a great way to include children or grandchildren as you could have them help select something to share.
The schedule will be…
November 27 – Hope [The hope box will be available from 11/21 to 11/27]December 4 – Peace [The peace box will be available 11/28 – 12/4]December 11 – Joy [The joy box will be available from 12/5 – 12/11]December 18 – Love [The love box will be available from 12/19 – 12/24]December 24 – Christ [The Christ box will be available from 12/19 – 12/24]
PS – We will also be including a box for “favorite holiday recipes,” but this will just be for fun. It will remain out for people to look through and copy things they would like to try.
