I wanted to inform you that we have become aware that earlier this morning a stranger from outside our community received a digital copy of First Presbyterian Church’s most recent public directory including members’ emails and phone numbers. We have already received numerous reports of church members who have received emails or text messages from someone pretending to be Pastor Clint asking for money and gift cards.
We need your help to ensure that no one is tricked into giving away money or gift cards by a person pretending to be from our church.
- Please do the following:
- Ignore any emails from the church asking for money or gift cards of any kind.
- Please check the email address closely, emails from the church only come from email addresses that end with “@fpcspiritlake.org”. If the end of the email does not match “@fpcspiritlake.org” EXACTLY please immediately delete the email.
- If you are having conversations with other church members in the next few days, please pass this information along so that no one is tricked before we are able to contact them.
We are going to actively review the situation and take any steps possible to mitigate further false emails and text messages. Fortunately, I can ensure you that the only information that was shared came from our public directory. We are confident that NO financial information or other sensitive information has been accessed.
You will hear more from us as the situation requires.
Don’t hesitate to call us at the church 712-336-1649 or contact us. If you see anything suspicious from the church, please notify us immediately.
Pastor Michael
